Default Question about poisonous weapon upgrade

I would like to understand what exactly a poisonous weapon upgrade does. I read the description as 'Lengthens poison duration on foes by 33%'. But this indicates that the foe should be poisoned already for the upgrade to lenthen it.

How does a warrior poison his opponent to begin with though? Sorry for the silly question.

Use a W/R with apply poison ( high energy cost though )
Now if you normally have a 10 second poison as it says with apply poison, it adds the 33% to that, so making it 13 sec poisoning.

So every time you poison someone with the updrade equiped, it adds 33% to the discription.

Apply poison can works with any weapons, even with melee too. Like Aera said, it cost lots energy (15 energy for the preparation.)

Well there are a few Necro skills that involve poisoning, but the most common way I know of is to use the Ranger preparation Apply Poison.

It doesnt work with wands or staffs because they shoot a magical projectile, same reason it doesnt work with spells. (At least thats how I think of it.)

Off course it doesnt work on spells (DUH)
I dont want to see something like this:

I'm using Apply Poison
I'm using Symbol of Wrath

Well, that mean its only physical damage weapons (Bows and Melee weapons)

Hmm... According to Guildwiki, it does work on [skills] of any type:

The description is kinda wrong, because poison still works with swords using elemental mods (firey bow, firey sword).

No, it says that a poisonous mod will lenghten any poisoning caused by skills. So if you have a poisonous sword, and use chilblains+plauge touch, that poison WILL be lengthened. Using Apply Poison and Flare will not poison your enemy.

Yeah...? That's what I thought everyone was talking about. It works on skills/spells... Where did it say, or anyone say for that matter, that it caused poison? I thought that was a given that it didn't do that...

There was a bit of confusion between poisonous weapon upgrades and the skill Apply Poison.
